
Andrew Clarke,
Chief Executive Officer and founder of Ground
Floor Partners, Inc., has reviewed over a thousand business plans and
advised hundreds of entrepreneurs on business strategy, marketing, operations and other issues.
Before starting Ground Floor Partners
he led all technology operations
at Equis, a privately held commercial
real estate firm with 33 offices
worldwide.
Andrew also has extensive experience
as an entrepreneur. In 1997 he
founded ListNet, a real estate
listing and advertising service
on the Internet. He managed
all aspects of the business including
strategy, operations, marketing,
sales, and web site development.
From 1995 to 1998, Andrew worked
as Vice President of Analytics
and then Vice President of Product
Development at Hedge Financial
Products, a privately held boutique
derivatives firm in downtown Chicago.
He led the risk management and
quantitative analysis efforts for
the Chicago office, designed several
complex proprietary crop reinsurance
risk models, and supervised a team
in all aspects of model development
from inception to completion.
From 1979 to 1994, Andrew was
a scientist and engineer, working
in a variety of technical and management
positions in academia and industry.
He has published 15 scientific
papers in the areas of Theoretical
Chemistry, Fluid Mechanics, and
Materials Science, and worked as
a Research Scientist at University
of Washington, Cornell University,
and University of British Columbia.
He also spent two years as an Assistant
Professor in Physics and Engineering
at Pacific Lutheran University.
Andrew holds advanced degrees
in engineering and science from
the University of Rochester, the
University of California at San
Diego, and the University of Wisconsin. He is an active member
of Midwest Business Brokers and Intermediaries (MBBI) and the
Association for Strategic Planning (ASP).
Scott McGarvey,
Partner, has over 20 years' experience in
consulting and industry management, and has provided consultative guidance in
marketing and general management since 1992. Before joining Ground Floor
Partners in 2003, Scott developed an independent consulting business focused
on marketing and strategy.
Scott works with small to medium-sized business clients
to assess market opportunities, focusing on new and existing markets, customer
needs and competitive vulnerabilities. Once this step has been taken, he helps
clients define the value proposition of the enterprise and develop an actionable
strategy for profitable business growth. Scott has specific experience in
direct and interactive marketing, marketing through alternative channels, and
customer loyalty and retention.
Scott's recent clients include several finance sector companies -
Liberty Mutual Insurance, GMAC Residential Funding Corporation,
Royal & SunAlliance, and Heller Financial (now part of GE Capital).
Scott has also provided marketing services for several start-up and growing
enterprises in industries ranging from professional liability insurance to
third-party fulfillment to property tax abatement.
In his early career, Scott was industrial marketing manager for six years with
Landis & Gyr Powers, a major manufacturer/installer of building control systems.
Scott was also affiliated with the consulting practices of Price Waterhouse,
Chase Econometrics (a decision support services provider) and Brand Group
(a small firm specializing in product identity).
Scott earned his M.B.A. degree from the University of
Chicago GSB in 1981. He is active and holds leadership positions in the
National Funding Association, Chicago Association of Direct Marketing,
Midwest Business Brokers & Intermediaries (MBBI), and Association for
Corporate Growth. He also heads the Chicago GSB Marketing Roundtable and is
VP Membership with the Chicago GSB Club, a business and social organization
for Chicago-area alumni.
Greg Curtiss,
Business Consultant, earned a B.A. in Economics from Rollins College of Winter Park, FL
and holds an M.B.A from the University of Notre Dame. Prior to joining Ground Floor Partners,
Mr. Curtiss worked for several years in advertising sales and marketing management for
Clydesdale Capital Investments, an owner and operator of RV Parks throughout the country.
Additionally, he has participated in project engagements for Accenture, Hewlett-Packard and
Solutia covering a breadth of issues.
Mr. Curtiss is an experienced business consultant. He has written case
studies and/or business plans in the areas of consumer products, plastics, microfluidics,
biological compounds, green initiatives and outsourcing.
Mark Goff, Mark Goff adds great strength to
Ground Floor Partners in marketing execution, particularly in marketing communications and public relations.
Mark is the owner of Goff & Associates, a full service public affairs and public relations consultancy.
Mark has over 30 years of experience in marketing communications and public relations.
Prior to founding his firm in 1992, Mark spent four years as Executive Vice-President, Barkin, Paulsen, Meissner & Kimball
Public Relations and Advertising, Milwaukee, handling public relations and public affairs
work for a wide range of corporate clients.
Mark has worked with well-known companies such as Aurora Healthcare, Browning-Ferris Industries,
Cellnet Technology, Delta Airlines, Perini Building Company, S.C. Johnson & Son ("Johnson Wax"), Stevens Construction,
Georgia Pacific Corporation, and many others.

Matt Hartzman is
currently Director of Systems Development
at the College of American Pathologists,
a $100MM association of pathologists
that spends $25MM/year on technology
primarily to provide accreditation
and proficiency testing for medical
laboratories. From July 1999 through
March 2002 Matt was Chief Operating
Officer at Nexiv, a privately held
Internet company. There, he supervised
up to 40 people in sales, design,
development, networking, Internet
marketing and project management.
Before Nexiv, Matt was Vice President
of Operations at Trase Miller Solutions,
a privately held firm in the Leisure,
Travel & Tourism Industry.
Matt earned a B.S. in Computer
Science from Northern Illinois
University with significant coursework
in Philosophy, Sociology and Political
Science.
Michael Lieberman is
a national industry marketing director
for Grant Thornton LLP a $2B global
tax, audit and business advisory
firm based in Chicago, Illinois.
Prior work experience includes
senior positions in marketing and
consulting sales at Cap Gemini
LLP , Cap Gemini Ernst & Young
LLP, and Arthur Andersen. Successes
at Arthur Andersen earned him promotions
from lead generator to national
lead generator, business developer,
national marketing manager and
finally, senior business developer.
Michael graduated from Northeastern
Illinois University in Chicago
with a B.S. in Business Administration
and a B.A. in Liberal Arts.
Bill Polich is
a founder and principal of LOC,
Inc., a business development consultancy
focusing on emerging businesses
through the development of launch
plans and the creation of the infrastructure
needed to address and support a
chosen market. Bill has direct
experience in mature, turnaround
and start-up businesses in multiple
industries. He has held key management
positions at 3PF, Inc., Baker & Taylor's
Entertainment Group, HBO Home Video
and Pioneer Electronics.
Ian Turvill is
a Director in the North American
Financial Services and Insurance
Practice of Fair Isaac. He specializes
in helping leading marketing organizations
apply new strategies, processes,
and technologies to acquire, develop,
and retain profitable customer
relationships. Recent clients include
HSBC, Wachovia, Vodafone, and American
Airlines. A citizen of the United
States and the United Kingdom,
Mr. Turvill holds a "Double First" degree
in Engineering, Economics, and
Management from The University
of Oxford, as well as an MBA in
Finance and Marketing. Ian was
previously elected The US National
Marketing Scholar of the Year by
the American Marketing Association.
Jim Vahle is
the founder and principal of The
Aspen Consulting Group. Aspen assists
executives, business owners and
entrepreneurs to optimize their
bottom line by identifying and
addressing the issues that are
impacting customer satisfaction
and their organization's performance.
Jim has worked at DuPont, Amoco,
and is currently a Professor in
entrepreneurship at Lake Forest
Graduate School of Management.
